Generally, you should neglect improvements and exploitations only on planets you plan to be pure Riftborn.įinding - or making - a system with four or five hot/sterile planets and filling it almost entirely with Riftborn shipped in from other colonies to create an industrial powerhouse is a very good idea. The Riftborn will often rely on other populations to supplement their numbers since Riftborn people are built with, not grown with.
Thus in the early game you should attempt to expand rapidly, then consolidate and defend the systems you have taken. They make for poor aggressors due to their lack of speed, however their massive number of weapon module slots allow them to defend their territory quite well. Riftborn ships other than their colonizer and explorer tend to have few engine slots, especially their Hunter which can only have one support module slot even if upgraded. Keep the Industrialist party in power, pass the New Colony law, and get as many colonies up as quickly as you can before other factions can expand into your space or build military ships to shut you down. As Riftborn colonize with industry and not food, and do not send any resources from colonies to outposts, they should attempt to colonize very widely and very quickly.
